About Suparn Patra
Free Computer Science notes, GATE / UGC NET prep, and a code playground - for school, exams, and careers.
Background
- Computer Science (PhD - Thesis Submitted)
- MSc in Artificial Intelligence - Gold Medalist
- BEd - Bachelor of Education
- Developer at Class Central
Mission
To make Computer Science education accessible, practical, and engaging at every level - from a Class 3 student writing their first algorithm, to an aspirant preparing for GATE or UGC NET, to an undergraduate switching into a Web Dev or AI/ML career path. Every topic should be learnable three ways: read it, watch it on YouTube, and practice it in the code playground.
What you'll find here
- School: chapter-wise CBSE notes and quizzes for CTAI (Classes 3 to 8), ICT (IX, X), and Computer Science (XI, XII).
- Exams: syllabus-driven prep for GATE CS, GATE DA, UGC NET CS, and ISRO Scientist / Engineer SC, organised unit by unit.
- Paths: self-paced career paths for Python, Web Development, AI / ML, and Web Scraping.
- Tools: 60+ browser-only developer utilities across ~10 categories - text, hashes (MD5 / SHA-1 / SHA-256 / SHA-512 / HMAC / bcrypt), encoders (Base64 / URL / HTML / hex / binary / ROT13), JSON (format / minify / validate / sort / to-YAML / to-CSV), web-dev helpers (UUID, timestamp, color, regex, JWT decoder, cron explainer), generators (password, random string, slug, random number, nano ID, QR code), CSS tools (box-shadow, gradient, clamp(), cubic-bezier, border-radius, unit converter), number & math (base converter, bitwise, Roman numerals, number-to-words, percentages, GCD / LCM), Markdown / convert (MD ↔ HTML, table generator, CSV / TSV, XML / JSON, YAML to JSON), and date / time (timezone converter, date diff, age calculator, working days, duration formatter, ISO 8601 parser). Nothing leaves your browser.
- Playground & Blog: 20+ browser-only code playgrounds across 6 categories - languages (Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Lua, PHP, Ruby), SQL engines (SQLite, PostgreSQL via PGlite, DuckDB), data / query (JSONata, JMESPath, XPath / CSS selector), markup / web (HTML / CSS, Markdown, SVG), diagrams / math (Mermaid, KaTeX, Graphviz), and logic / functional (Prolog, Scheme, Clojure). All client-side - WebAssembly or pure JavaScript. Plus opinionated articles on prep and careers.
- Hash Lab: the dedicated hash-function reference at
hash.suparnpatra.comwith 45+ algorithm pages (cryptographic, MAC, password / KDF, non-cryptographic, CRC, checksum), 450+ multiple-choice quiz questions, and live tools: multi-algorithm hasher, file hasher, avalanche tester, HMAC playground, KDF lab, length-extension attack demo, and Merkle-Damgård / Keccak sponge animators. Every hash is visualized (hex, bit grid, byte pixel art, avalanche gauge). - Fractal Lab: the dedicated fractal-geometry reference at
fractal.suparnpatra.comwith a curated catalog (Mandelbrot, Julia, Newton, Sierpinski, Koch snowflake, Cantor set, Dragon curve, Menger sponge) and live tools. The interactive Mandelbrot explorer renders the set in your browser with click-to-zoom, drag-to-pan, and a smooth iteration-coloring gradient. - Chaos Lab: the dedicated nonlinear-dynamics reference at
chaos.suparnpatra.comcovering discrete maps (logistic, Hénon, Arnold cat, Ikeda, Chirikov standard), continuous flows (Lorenz, Rössler, Chen, Chua, Mackey-Glass, Hindmarsh-Rose), 50+ strange attractors, bifurcation theory, Lyapunov exponents, recurrence plots, chaos control (OGY / Pyragas / Pecora-Carroll), reservoir computing, and applications across cryptography, weather, biology, optics, and circuits. - Physics Lab: the dedicated Physics reference at
physics.suparnpatra.comcovering CBSE Class XI and Class XII (every NCERT chapter with derivations, worked examples and sub-topic drill-down pages), JEE Main / Advanced and NEET UG topic decks, 350+ MCQ quizzes with explanations, 16 full mock tests, year-wise PYQ sets, and 60+ in-browser interactive labs (projectile, pendulum, lens bench, circuit builder, orbits, Carnot cycle, wave interference, and more).
Why This Matters
AI and coding are no longer optional skills - they are foundational. Competitive CS exams are gateways to research and industry careers, and modern curricula (including NEP 2020 in India) push computational thinking from primary school onwards. Yet most CS education still relies on outdated textbooks that prioritise rote memorization over understanding.
This platform combines research-grade knowledge (PhD - Thesis Submitted), practical industry experience (8+ years building real software), and pedagogical training (BEd) - a combination very few CS educators offer. The notes and exam tracks are CBSE / GATE / NET first, but the tools, code playgrounds, and lab subdomains (hash, fractal, chaos, physics) are built for anyone, anywhere.
